Shoe-In

We’ve all burned through our fair share of boat shoes. They
take a constant beating from the elements, perspiration and
general onboard abuse. Well, it may be time to graduate from
those white-soled disposables (you know, the ones that are
gone after a few good dunkings) and think about investing
in a shoe you can really get some mileage from.
Handmade in Denmark, DECKMOCS offer a unique combination of
comfort and durability, designed to handle the toughest marine
environment you can dish out. First, the oil-tanned cowhide
exterior repels water and dries quickly if it gets soaked.
The oil-tanning process also means it handles salt water just
as easily as fresh water. One of the weak points on most boat
shoes is the row of stitching around the toe, which can allow
water in while you flex your foot. DECKMOCS feature a double-row
of hand-sewn stitches to keep you dry while you’re active.
A distinctive design feature of the shoe is the red and green
“navigation colors” inset into each heel.
Down below, the rubber (as in “not plastic”) sole pattern
grabs tight against the deck to stop you from slipping, but
the design is small enough to prevent picking up pebbles and
the like while on shore. Where many boat shoes offer nearly
no support or cushion, DECKMOCS feature shock-absorbing pads
in the heels and decent arch supports, something you’ll appreciate
at the end of the day. And you’ve heard the phrase “fits like
a glove?” That’s not just a cliché when you’re wearing these
shoes, because the interior is finished with super-soft glove
leather. That translates into a welcome combination of comfort
and durability.
